You have the equipment, the passion for it and the willingness to learn. But not everyone is born with an eye for framing photos. That’s why you need tricks- photography tricks- that can help you take your first step into being a great photographer.
Now, you have to remember that nothing is standing between you and your camera- there are no limitations as to what beauty you can capture with these photography tricks and techniques.
As you’ll soon know (when you’ve mastered the art of photography), there are many photography tricks that you can use to help you eternalize a perfect image, moment or place. Lucky for you, I’ve compiled four of the most useful, not to mention, easiest tricks that even professionals use.
Photography Tricks 1: Overexposure
To a beginner’s ears, this sounds like a big no-no. In some ways, it is. But overexposing is actually a good photography trick because it allows you to do a lot, in terms of digitally enhancing it. See, you’re a beginner, having digital editing behind your back is a very good deal.
So how do you overexpose a photo?
1. Find an object that has the same distance as your main subject but with less exposure to light.
2. Press down the shutter button- slightly. This way, your camera will read and focus on the light that your secondary object has. Don’t release the button.
3. Point your camera back to your main subject, frame it and release the shutter button.
Photography Tricks 2: Making a Portrait Shot
Taking a photograph of a person is easy- anybody can do it. But if you want to make a photograph of a person, then you better listen to this next photography trick.
The universal rule when it comes to portrait-style photos is to frame a few inches above the head until the shoulders. This frame would really make the portrait look nicer.
Photography Tricks 3: Action Shots
Now, normally, whenever someone would ask me about action shots, I would give two tips: knowledge on the activity to be photographed and some basic skills on action shots. These are skills that you can only develop through time and experience.
But as a beginner, here are some things that you should remember:
1. Take your time, be patient and be alert.
2. Your shutter speed should be at least 1/640.
3. As much as possible, shoot outdoors- light is important.
Photography Tricks 4: Reduce Glare
Unless you deliberately want it in your photo, glare is one of the problems in taking great photos. If you polarized lens though, this won’t be a problem. But the truth is, you don’t really need to have that to reduce glare in your photos.
Want a totally unique and inexpensive trick? Well, I’m sure you have sunglasses. Yes! You can just hold your polarized glasses in front of your lenses and that should do the trick. Just be sure that the rims of it won’t be in the photo!
