Did you know that you can leverage on the power of YouTube in marketing your photography business? Given the fact that about four (4) billion YouTube videos are being viewed on a daily basis, you should really consider using this medium in marketing your photography business.

It is interesting to note that a lot of people are not using this extremely powerful medium in promoting their businesses. Perhaps they are quite overwhelmed with the technology involved and they do not know how to get started or how to make it work.

However, no matter what their reasons may be, there is still no reason why you shouldn’t use video marketing in promoting your photography business. If you are still quite hesitant in using YouTube to promote your business, here are some tips that can help you get started.

Find out what works. As the saying goes, ‘don’t try to reinvent the wheel’. There really is no reason why you should, especially when it comes to marketing your photography business in YouTube. The best thing that you can do is to spend some time watching the most popular videos in your market (consider devoting one entire afternoon for this purpose) to see what works. What types of videos get the most views and/or the highest ratings? Which gets the most number of subscribers and/or comments? Use these as a basis in making your videos and you surely couldn’t go wrong.

Use keywords to your advantage. To help people find your videos, you need to use related keywords in your title, description and tags. Consider using keyword tools to come up with a list of good keywords. You should also try to see what tags your competitors are using and use them to increase the likelihood that your videos will come up as ‘suggestions’ after someone viewed their videos.

Create a personalized channel for your business. To help create a strong brand presence for your business, you need to personalize your channel. To do this, you must use a thumbnail image and color scheme that best represents your business, include a keyword optimized title and description for the page and provide information about the products and services you are trying to promote.

Organize your videos. You can create unique playlists for each of the services you are offering to keep your videos properly organized. For sure, your viewers will thank you for doing this!

Use multiple calls to action. What do you want your viewers to do after watching your videos? Do you want them to click on your link to find out more about your business and the services you are offering? Do you want them to rate your video, post a comment, subscribe to your videos or embed your video on their site? Do you want them to follow you on Twitter and/or on Facebook? Let them know what you want them to do so you can get the results you need.

Remember to use the soft sell approach. Don’t try to sell your products in YouTube. To be honest about it, these people are not yet ready to buy anything so going for the hard sell approach will not yield any favorable results.

Promote your videos. There are several ways by which you can generate more traffic to your videos. You can:

  • Email your links to your friends, existing clients and contacts.
  • Share your videos social networking sites and ask people to share it with their friends.
  • Write articles and submit them to article directories and forums.

Done right, using YouTube in marketing your photography business can give you great results. It can even put you miles ahead of your competition so consider using it in achieving your business goals.
