Many “greenies” look for a photography business tip or two and often do not have a clue as to where to look for their first gig. Some overeager photographers go right for the gold with marketing campaigns and advertisement organizations before they’ve strengthened their base concepts of taking photographs. Of course, it’s not feasible to produce many amateur photographs on this level and still be taken seriously.
Splendid photographs can be obtained by the digital camera owner at the seashore. Interesting light, colour and outstanding beauty all contribute to the potential for an excellent shot. However, there are some potential risks for the camera owner at the seaside and these include privacy issues, the challenge of making a large space visually pleasing, and not the least, damage to your camera.

1. Concentrate on focal points.
“All beach shots look the same” is a mindset shared by many. However, if you
look past the average shot, the seashore is positively full of fantastic opportunities. Landscape beach photographs often actually have no point of interest. This results in an empty shot. By finding a point of interest, you will give the viewer somewhere fot their eye to settle. Footprints in the sand, a life saver’s stand, or waves crashing on a
rock will all give your photo some interest. Bottles of sunscreen, sand castles, thongs, sunglasses, or beach towels, can all tell a story about a day at the beach.
These can break up a collection as smaller feature pictures.
Research has been undertaken that identified photography was in the top 10 of the most favorite things to be when working for a living. Apparently the top 5 were creative vocations and digital photography was among them. So what!…
Many people are satisfied to do photography purely for pleasure. However, if you like photography, why not do it for a living I say and strive to find an income stream that can be derived from something which others would label a hobby.
Let’s face it, photography has changed dramatically – no one would argue that now. Once upon a time you would have to finger through catalogue after catalogue of stock photography to find what you wanted. Agencies and publishers would be moving prints and transparencies across desks and ordering couriers to send satchels somewhere across the country for proofing or consideration. Stock photography is now another ‘kettle of fish’ and it’s just going to get better and better.
In my last article relating to a suggestion for your photography business No.1, I went straight to the heart of things with little distraction and I was (I hope) straight to the point. I did this for a number of reasons but none less than the fact that it can be difficult starting your own photography business because initially customers can seem to be elusive or difficult to find. It doesn’t need to be this way and I will try to help you with one or two tips here and there but I won’t be giving the more powerful secrets of my photography business guide away for nothing or in this process.
Location portraits are really cool! Why? Because you always have heaps of control. If your model is ‘carrying on’ and being difficult, give her a stiff scotch or a glass of champagne. If they are not dressed the way you want them to be, put their clothes in shadow or fix it later on if you have learned a little photoshop or some other manipulative software. You can even fix an unusual or sad expression by back-lighting.
The strange thing is, many photographers ‘give up the ghost’ when it comes to location portrait backgrounds, thereby losing control. Usually the worst place to shoot is where you first find your model. The backdrop is most often a distraction or complex and just makes the portrait too busy.
How to Take Stunning Photos During Winter
One of the outstanding benefits of being a photographer, whether you’re an amateur or a professional are the many choices or areas to work or experiment in. None less than winter or snow photography. You can of course ‘luck it’ and of course most savvy photographers with lots of time can simply figure things out. To help you along the path I’ve prepared a few tips for you.
Snow Exposure
You may already be aware that the exposure meter in a camera (digital or film) sees everything in neutral or mid gray tones. For instance, if you take a photo of the snow surface, it will (your camera) try to make it a light gray. This occurrence will take place whether you are on auto focus or manual. It won’t matter where you are; snow skiing, snowboarding or simply taking landscape snow shots. It won’t matter how much you paid for your camera or how little, the most advanced camera or the least. They give different results to beach photography and all meters see snow the same as each other.
