Photo Backup: A Simple 2-Step Approach

Backups make me nervous. Optical media (CD and DVD) has a limited shelf-life, hard disks are prone to crashing, houses have been known to burn to the ground. Where do you stop worrying? What do you do about it?...

What about the websites where you can upload your photos? That has been recommended becise the finite life of CDs and DVDs. I have thought that one has to consider the fact that a website might be taken down, say after fice years. Which upload website would you recommend?

Thanks for the reminder Roy,
I usually backup my entire system every 3 or 4 months on CD and DVD especially owning a business and having to provide certain documents to the government. I also retain a hard copy. I've had hard drive wipeouts before through viruses etc. and have learned the hard way.

Thank you for the reminder. Backup is something I keep thinking I should do but never actually get around to doing. It is very important as you never know when things are going to go wrong with the hard drive and it usually happens just when you need something important from it. Backing up files is quick and easy and a habit we all should get into.
Thanks again.
